Liling Yan is a PhD anthropology student doing a research on female mountaineers. She was born and raised in China, is a student in Cape Town, South Africa, and is now doing her project fieldwork in Slovenia. As part of her fieldwork Liling goes hiking every weekend meeting other mountaineers and creating new friendships along the way. She loves the mountaineering culture in Slovenia, the mountain tea, jota, and štruklji ;)

Liling chose to play the song "Friends (朋友)" by Emil Wakin Chau (周华健).
