The High Seas Treaty to protect marine life around the world has taken effect. Officially known as the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction Agreement, it becomes legally binding for the 81 nations that have ratified it so far. Slovenia was one of the first countries to ratify the treaty, almost one year ago.
